Quotas reset monthly on your billing anniversary. Hard-cap plans stop at the limit, so the price never moves; soft-cap plans serve past it and bill overage per 1,000 requests, up to the spending cap you set. We never exceed it.

Default spending cap is your plan price (€15 of overage), so we hard-stop at €30. Never a surprise; raise or lower it anytime.
How we count
Most calls cost one unit. The exceptions are the ones that genuinely do more work: autocomplete is a fraction of a unit, and bulk matrices and isochrones scale with the size of the job. A map bills once per session, so panning and zooming stay free.

FAQ
- Do you charge per map load or per request?
- Tiles bill per map session: one session is one unit, and you can pan, zoom and refresh freely within it. Geocoding and routing bill per request. It all comes from the same pool, and we never charge per active user or device.
- Is the free tier really free? What's the catch?
- No card on signup, no trial countdown, no calls home. The free tier is deliberately small: enough to evaluate the API and ship a prototype, not enough to run production traffic. Attribution to Rijwind is required.
- What happens when I go over my limit?
- Hard-cap plans (Free and Personal) stop at the limit: calls return 429 until the monthly reset, so you can never run up a bill by accident. Soft-cap plans (Starter and up) keep serving past your included quota and bill the extra per 1,000 requests at the end of the period. But you set a spending cap (it defaults to your plan price) and we hard-stop there. So you're never silently down on a normal spike, and never surprised by the invoice. We email you as you approach both your quota and your cap, and you can change the cap anytime.
- Where does my data live?
- Owned-and-operated infrastructure in the Netherlands. No request body is logged beyond what's needed for billing counters, and nothing leaves the EU. A signed DPA is available for paid plans on request.
- Can I switch plans or cancel mid-month?
- Yes. Upgrades pro-rate immediately; downgrades take effect at the next renewal. Cancel anytime from the dashboard, and your account drops back to the free tier on the next cycle.
- Need higher volume or a custom contract?
- Email sales@rijwind.com. We'll quote higher volume, prepaid pools, or a custom agreement, including invoice billing, a signed DPA and an SLA for public-sector and enterprise procurement.
